Activity Duration

30 -40 mins

Objectives of the activity

Fun, suitable for multiple age groups working together

Materials required

Paper, scissors, paper aeroplane instructions (there are several websites with instructions), rope, hoop, mat, plenty of adults  and space to fly the planes.

Activity

Get each person to fold at least one plane, we found some of the younger children needed quite a lot of help to get a flyable plane.
Try to ensure that you have a variety of styles within the group. What can each type of plane do? Try holding a rope across the room, can the planes fly under & over it? Can the planes fly through a hoop? Can you land the planes on a mat or sheet of newspaper? Do any of the planes do stunts or come back?

Variations

Look for other flying toys which you could make

Evaluation

Went well & the children enjoyed it. The variety of planes kept competition between the children minimal.
